It has got me thinking at the end of each day what makes someone good cleaner.
I don’t believe in someone just wanting a job that makes them work hard or stay loyal and do the right thing, I believe it comes down to passion and drive.
For myself, I cast my mind back to early 2020 when I was at that stage in my life unemployed and I had this drive to be a cleaner – a field I hadn’t considered before then.
My prior fields were marketing, pharmacy, retail, online writing for websites.
However – I not only researched cleaning as a in-demand field, but also recognized my love of cleaning in my own home and wondered if I could make living out in the world doing something I actually love to do. 🥰
I would spend my nights on YouTube practicing how to make swans out of towels and how to fold a hand towel 50 different ways and other nitty ideas that may increase my chances of breaking into cleaning.
From there, my job provider came up with the goods and by December of 2020 I had started what I truly loved to do for the first time ever.
Joining Personal Maids was and still is, the icing on the cake for me. 🤗 I love everything about
Personal Maids. I even love our uniform! I have never worn a uniform with more pride than when I slip on the pink shirt and transform myself with my signature top knot, tiara and big sparkly earrings.
And my clients everywhere love the effort applied just greeting me at their doors as when you look good, you feel so good too! You walk better, you work better and all round everyone and everything is better!
I always refuse to title myself ‘just a cleaner’. I am so much more than that and I’ve made myself more than that because that is what adds an enormous amount of joy to my every day working.
My client’s you provide me with are family to me. I feel like I have so many homes that feel like home because I first and foremost want my clients to feel like I am not just trusted but a cheerful, caring soul too.
I have hugged people who are crying, made people laugh, shared stories, asked questions, gave advice, bought medicines and teas and beverages to people and even drawn on eyebrows to an old ladies face when she asked me to help her! 🤣 HAHA!
Again- so much more than a cleaner.
I wish the people just joining the cleaning trade understood that as much as we are hired to clean people’s homes, its just as vital they have a nurturing and compassionate side to go with their drive and passion for cleaning.
I wish new starters understood that it is great to put on some make up, add some bling to your work wear and present yourself like a colorful and happy person to the clients. It really matters. We are the first visual they get even before we clean. If we look well presented and happy and fit in, we are already winning! ⭐
You have no idea how many people each week say to me, “Gosh, you smell lovely and look just as wonderful”. It makes you feel good too and they see that as effort.
I don’t take my job for granted and I’m always grateful to have the job I do as I really love it so much I don’t class it as “work”.
And if they are having a really awesome feel good week like I get, I not only make time to do a bit of toilet paper origami for them but I might bring along one of my favorite coffee sachets and leave a little surprise in their kitchen for them to find after I’ve left..👍
My daily motto is still “always leave the homes and the people within them better than you find them”.
Its my daily mantra and it works well for me..💕
New week ahead⭐🤩🥳
