Is cleaning your shower tiles a burden? Don’t worry! There are easier ways to clean tiles that don’t require any scrubbing. For example, here are a few methods that only take a little time and a couple of easy-to-get ingredients. Check them out!
Scrub-free cleaning products for your shower tiles
Rather than breaking the bank on fancy cleaning agents, you can make your solutions. It only takes a couple of ingredients you might already have at home!
Here are five of the best homemade cleaning solutions you can choose from:
Option 1. Baking soda paste
Baking soda is one of the most common household products, so you likely already have it at home. But that’s not what makes it great; baking soda will work perfectly if your shower tiles have stuck-on dirt and grime or feel sticky.
If you choose this agent, make a paste by mixing the baking soda with water. Then apply it to the stained tiles and let it rest for half an hour. Finish by wiping the paste away with a damp cloth.
Option 2. White vinegar solution
Another product you likely have already in your home is white vinegar. This kitchen staple and natural cleaner will remove the odors in addition to cleaning the stains!
Just fill a bowl with equal parts water and vinegar. Then, pour the mix over the dirty tiles, and leave it sitting for thirty minutes. Wipe the tiles with a damp cloth, and you’re done.
Option 3. Hydrogen peroxide with water
Hydrogen peroxide is a product you can get at any store and is a perfect option if you have a few spots of mold on your tiles.
To apply hydrogen peroxide on your shower tiles:
- Get a spray bottle and pour ½ a cup of hydrogen peroxide per cup of water.
- Spray the mixture over the tiles and let it soak for thirty minutes.
- Once the time’s up, run the shower to rinse and wipe with a clean, dry cloth.
Option 4. Diluted chlorine bleach
Bleach is one of the most powerful and effective household disinfectants out there. So, it will leave your shower tiles stainless and free of bacteria.
Pour ¾ cup bleach into 1 gallon of warm water to dilute the harsh chemical, so it doesn’t harm the tiles. Then, apply it over the tiles (be more generous over the grout) and let it sit for 15 minutes. Finally, rinse the tiles with clean water and wipe them dry with a cloth.
Warning: Remember to wear gloves and leave windows open when using bleach!
Option 5. Hydrogen peroxide and borax
If your shower tiles are filthy and covered in all sorts of dirt and grime, this two-ingredient cleaner is sure to leave the surface and grout spotless.
First, ensure no one uses the shower for the day since the cleaning agents will be at work for several hours. Then, spread borax over the tiles and leave it for 5 hours minimum—you can go about your day as usual while you wait.
Once time’s up, pour hydrogen peroxide over the borax and let it rest for two more hours. Finally, run your shower on warm water to rinse everything off and dry it with a clean cloth.
Warning: This mix is more abrasive and could damage your tiles if used often, so use it only as a last resort if the other methods aren’t giving you results.
